Indigenous Guiding

Blue Mountains College Tourism section is developing an Interpretive Tour Guiding course for Aboriginal guides in partnership with the Blue Mountains, Lithgow and Oberon Tourism Board (BMLOT), National Parks Discovery Rangers, Darug and Gundungurra communities and local industry. The project was recently launched by the Small Business Minister, the Hon Peter Primrose, who has committed $30,000 to the development of the project - an amount which has been matched by BMLOT.

The provision of quality tour guiding by Indigenous local people that is available 7 days a week, has been identified as a unique and important tourist service for the region – one that is expected to enhance the tourist ‘experience’ of visiting the ancient wilderness that is the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains.
