Racing NSW is pleased to announce the extension of its Award-winning Training Partnership for the delivery of training to the racing industry participants in NSW.
Together with our partners – TAFE Western Sydney Institute (“TAFE WSI”) – the new agreement will ensure the quality service collectively delivered under the banner of Australian Racing and Equine Academy (“AREA”) continues with the signing of a new 3-year partnership agreement.
Winner of the prestigious National Training Award for Industry Collaboration from a host of competitors at the 2013 Awards ceremony, the Partnership was recognised for its unique blend of industry experience and education excellence when receiving the award from The Hon. Ian McFarlane MP, Minister for Industry.
Accredited courses from the National Training Package covering Stablehands, Apprentice Jockeys, Trainers, Club Administrators and Track Maintenance workers ensure racing participants receive quality training and assessments resulting in Certificate or Diploma qualifications.
Racing NSW Chief Executive, Peter V’landys AM said today: “We are very proud of the achievements of this partnership and the outcomes it provides for our participants.
“Our team of industry experts and mentors combine with the expertise provided by TAFE WSI educators to deliver first class training for the range of different qualifications available.
“This results in a safer industry and more productive workforce, providing trainers and employers with skilled staff and the trainees themselves a Certificate qualification that builds their résumé and presents their experience to prospective employers.”
TAFE WSI Institute Director, Robin Shreeve was equally pleased with the signing of the new agreement: “We are very excited to extend our partnership with Racing NSW to ensure that the skills base of the industry is continually improving,” Mr Shreeve said.
“The partnership brings together the best of both worlds, racing industry expertise combined with TAFE learning innovation that gives participants at small country racetracks the same opportunities to learn as those based in the metropolitan area.”
A range of new initiatives are being examined that will assist participants with the costs of course fees. To enquire about training courses available or to find out more about options for work-based or online AREA courses, contact the Academy by phoning 1800 200 724.
